Student Ministry (Youth & College)
Our youth face a world that is challenging and often difficult. College students and young adults are experiencing an important transitional period that will shape the rest of their lives. A strong spiritual foundation is essential to establish and encourage Christian faith and values which they will take with them and apply. Healthy Christian fellowship is especially important during this period of their lives. First Baptist Church Elkin is dedicated to the nurturing and support of our youth and young adults. We don’t shy away from the tough questions and we are prepared to meet students where they are. There are many opportunities for these 7th-12th graders and college students, some of which are listed below:
* Weekly Youth gatherings
* Outings during Summer and Winter breaks
* Bible study and activities designed to encourage spiritual growth
* Regular activities for fun and fellowship (such as bowling, laser tag, lock-ins, swim / pool parties, cook-outs, putt-putt, hiking)
* Hands-on mission activities (such as local ministries – Tri-County Crisis Center, Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels, The Ark homeless shelter; and broader ministries such as Metanoia or Mission Unidiversity)
* Sunday School each Sunday morning from 9:45-10:45 a.m
* Retreat weekends
* Youth Musicians
* Participation in worship services such as: “Youth Sunday (usually each May), Lenten & Easter Services and other worship services throughout the year
Our youth program welcomes any youth (whether from the community or guests from out-of-town) to join our activities, regardless of race or background.
If you have a teenager in the 7th to 12th grade range, we would invite him or her to get involved in our youth program. You can easily place them on the youth mailing list by contacting the church office (835-1998) with contact information, signing up for the newsletter on the home page or checking out the Facebook page to see the latest events.
