At First Baptist Church of Elkin, everyone is welcome to join us on this journey of faith as we seek to love, live, grow, and go like Jesus. One way we grow like Jesus is through Connect Groups, which are small groups of people who gather together regularly for bible study, prayer, and friendship. We believe that these groups are so important to help us connect with God and connect with others. If you’re interested in connecting here at First Baptist, there is a group for you! Check out your options below for different groups that meet throughout the week.
CALLAWAY
We are a group of men and women (mostly parents and grandparents) who love to learn about the Bible and apply it to our daily lives. We begin by sharing weekly happenings and prayer requests. We love having socials, usually at homes or in a local restaurant, and we also have a mission project from time to time to help those in our community. We meet Sunday mornings at 8:45 right off the main hallway of the church. We welcome everyone to join us!

HENDRICK
We are a group of friends who love God, our church, and each other. We enjoy deepening our understanding of the Bible, sharing our faith journey, and spending time together. Our group is full of different types of people: working and retired, married and single, childless and many children. We’re full of life and would love to get to know you. We meet Sunday mornings at 8:45 in the large room upstairs at the end of the hallway.

REBECCA/MCRAE
Our group is made up of mostly senior adults who have a long history at the church. We love to discuss where the church has been and where we are headed! We are a warm and loving bunch who care deeply about each other and keep in touch with those who are sick and shut-in. We are active and try to help out anyway we can! We meet at 8:45 on Sunday mornings in the church library. Anyone is welcome to join us, including young people!

SOJOURNERS
We think of ourselves as travelers on a spiritual journey. We deepen our faith as we explore different and challenging views of our faith journey. It’s a journey that never rests in one place, but is constantly growing and changing. We love to discuss books, articles, video series, and even TED talks. Some our favorite authors to explore are Richard Rohr, Thomas Merton, Rob Bell, and Anne Lamott. All are welcome to join us! We meet Sunday mornings at 11:00 on the main level down the music hall on the left.

NEXT GEN GROUPS
There are several opportunities for children and students from birth - 12th grade! With a focus on fun, faith, and family, we work with the next generation to develop fundamental faith skills like understanding God through scripture and creation, discussing faith and asking hard questions, talking to God in prayer, and living out an everyday faith. Birth - 5 years old meet on the Nursery Hall. Kindergarten - 6th grade meet upstairs in the Coop. And our Student Ministry for 7th - 12th grade meets upstairs in the Youth Room. Want to connect to a next gen group? Please contact Justin Bell: justin@elkinfbc.com.

IMAGO DEI
“Imago dei” means “image of God.” The purpose of this group is to grow together as a community and in our faith to better reflect the image of God. We hope to honor God with the thoughts we think, the words we say, and the ways we live. We welcome everyone to our group and acknowledge the Image of God in those who are young, old, and somewhere in between! We acknowledge the Image of God in women, men, and those who do not fit into a binary. We acknowledge the Image of God in people of all races, ethnicities, and backgrounds. And whether you are straight or belong to the LGBTQ+ community, we acknowledge God's image in you, so please join us for meaningful friendships, bible studies that go in all sorts of directions, and good food every Tuesday evening from 6:00-7:30 at Cracker Barrel in Jonesville.

CIRCLE OF PRAYER
We are a friendly group that meet together weekly to pray for our church and community. We know that God hears and answers prayer, so we spend time celebrating what God has done and sharing concerns that we have. We have a devotion together and then pray in different ways each week, sometimes collectively, individually, aloud, and silently. We meet on Tuesdays at 10:30 in the church library.

#ADULTING
#Adulting is a Connect Group striving to get to the heart of God. By studying scripture, prayer, and other spiritual practices, we consider ourselves companions on a journey of faith to love, live, grow, and go like Jesus. We gather at 8:45 on Sundays on the left side of the upstairs hallway.
