At First Baptist Church of Elkin, everyone is welcome to join us on this journey of faith as we seek to love, live, grow, and go like Jesus. One way we grow like Jesus is through Connect Groups, which are small groups of people who gather together regularly for bible study, prayer, and friendship. We believe that these groups are so important to help us connect with God and connect with others. If you’re interested in connecting here at First Baptist, there is a group for you! Check out your options below for different groups that meet throughout the week.
We are a group of men and women (mostly parents and grandparents) who love to learn about the Bible and apply it to our daily lives. We begin by sharing weekly happenings and prayer requests. We love having socials, usually at homes or in a local restaurant, and we also have a mission project from time to time to help those in our community. We meet Sunday mornings at 9:50 right off the main hallway of the church. We welcome everyone to join us!

We are a group of friends who love God, our church, and each other. We enjoy deepening our understanding of the Bible, sharing our faith journey, and spending time together. Our group is full of different types of people: working and retired, married and single, childless and many children. We’re full of life and would love to get to know you. We meet Sunday mornings at 10:00 in the large room upstairs at the end of the hallway.

Our group is made up of mostly senior adult ladies who have a long history at the church. We love to discuss where the church has been and where we are headed! We are a warm and loving bunch who care deeply about each other and keep in touch with those who are sick and shut-in. We are active and try to help out anyway we can! We meet at 9:45 on Sunday mornings in the church library. Anyone is welcome to join us, including men and young people!

We think of ourselves as travelers on a spiritual journey. We deepen our faith as we explore different and challenging views of our faith journey. It’s a journey that never rests in one place, but is constantly growing and changing. We love to discuss books, articles, video series, and even TED talks. Some our favorite authors to explore are Richard Rohr, Thomas Merton, Rob Bell, and Anne Lamott. All are welcome to join us! We meet Sunday mornings at 9:50 on the basement level of the church directly behind the stage.

We are a group of couples and singles who study Nurturing Faith. We encourage group discussion and sharing insights. We want to apply what we learn to our daily lives. We are also very active in the missions of First Baptist Church. We meet at 9:45 on the main hallway just past the nursery to the left.

This group is for teens in 7th-12th grade. We get together every Sunday evening upstairs in the church’s youth room from 5:00-7:00 to have fun, eat some food, and grow in our faith. We have a lesson that helps you navigate through life as a teenager, and then break into middle school and high school groups to discuss life and pray together. We’d love for any 7th-12th grade student to join us!

COMPANIONS IN CHRIST
We are a group that seeks to grow spiritually by exploring scripture, praying, reflecting on God’s call, discovering God’s gifts, and growing together as a community. We deepen our response to God’s call by reading, journaling, and discussing topics such as: the christian life, the means of grace, sharing the journey of faith, and covenant community. We will begin meeting Sunday, March 10 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. Location will be announced later.

“Imago dei” means “image of God.” The purpose of this group is to grow together as a community and in our faith to better reflect the image of God in our world. We hope to honor God with the thoughts we think, the words we say, and the ways we live. This group is geared towards young adults between the ages of 20-40, but everyone is welcome! We will begin meeting for friendship, bible study, and caffeine in the month of March at Dirty Joe’s North on Tuesday evenings from 6:00-7:00.

Are you new to the church? Have you been coming for awhile but are not involved in a Connect Group? Are you new to the community and looking for people to connect with? If the answer is yes, we invite you join us at 9:50 on Sunday mornings upstairs at the end of the hallway directly behind the Hendrick room. We will begin meeting Sunday, February 3rd by exploring 1 Corinthians 12 in an effort to see how, as members of the body of Christ, our gifts and passions can connect us with one another. Visitors are welcome!

CIRCLE OF PRAYER
We are a friendly group that meet together weekly to pray for our church and community. We know that God hears and answers prayer, so we spend time celebrating what God has done and sharing concerns that we have. We have a devotion together and then pray in different ways each week, sometimes collectively, individually, aloud, and silently. We meet on Tuesdays at 10:00 in the church library.
